Union Minister Jairam Ramesh was right in pointing out that the country requires more toilets than temples (“A stinking mess, “Oct. 10). But the language he used was in bad taste. He need not have used two contrasting symbols to make a comparison and illustrate a point. As a Minister, he should be more careful about what he says, especially in a country which is religiously sensitive.
