The article “The sparrow… and the sorrow” (Open Page, April 4) was brief and beautiful. We have made our living materialistic and artificial. There is no place for the tiny, wonderful sparrow in our world, which is extremely unfortunate.

That the sparrow is hardly seen these days is indeed a matter of sorrow. Its presence and tweet in the early morning hours and throughout the day were extremely pleasant. As a youngster, I watched sparrows build nests in the small holes on the walls of my house. Thanks to modern living, including cell phones and magnetic waves, the younger generation stands deprived of the pleasant experience.
