South China Sea ruling

July 14, 2016 12:54 am | Updated 12:54 am IST

The Chinese reaction to the Permanent Court of Arbitration’s ruling on Beijing’s vast claims in the South China Sea is unbecoming of a nation that is trying hard to project itself as a superpower (“Tribunal rejects Beijing’s claims on South China Sea”, July 13). As a permanent member of the UN Security Council and being engaged in an all-out effort to spread its footprint in the international arena, China should learn to be more accommodative and fair. The international community must step up the pressure and make sure that the ruling is properly implemented.
