The article “The medium, message and the money” by P. Sainath (Oct. 26) is shocking. Three of my Marathi journalist friends confirm what he has written. The whole thing seems to be much more scandalous. I have been in active journalism for more than 50 years. I was the Chief Editor of the Maharashtra Times for 27 years. As I still contribute to both Marathi and English newspapers, I can say that I have been in journalism for over 60 years. Never in my long career have I found journalism reduced to such a degrading and reprehensible state. I think the news coverage by some sections of the media during the Maharashtra polls is a perfect case for CBI inquiry. It is difficult for an organisation or a group of individuals to get to the roots of this scandal.
