The news of the death of 27-year-old Tamizh Mani, son of Tamil Nadu Minister Sellur K. Raju, in a motorcycle accident was shocking and sad. Although not wearing a helmet could have been a reason for the tragedy, the main culprit was the unexpected speed-breaker, the likes of which are found on many roads without any alerts.

Whenever a fatal motorcycle accident takes place, people blame it on the rider if he was not wearing a helmet. No doubt a helmet is a must. At the same time, more often than not, as in the case of Tamizh Mani, it is the speed breaker that causes accidents.
