Shastri-Ganguly spat

July 02, 2016 03:08 am | Updated 03:08 am IST

Ravi Shastri’s outburst after being overlooked for the head coach’s job is jarring (‘Sport’ – “Shastri living in a fool’s world: Ganguly”, June 30). Feeling disappointment is natural but his verbal bouncers are distasteful and unbecoming of his stature. Sourav Ganguly was part of a team comprising Sachin Tendulkar, V.V.S. Laxman and coordinator Sanjay Jagdale which was entrusted with the responsibility of interviewing the shortlisted candidates for the top job. With Anil Kumble now a part of Team India, Indian cricket is in safe hands and Ravi Shastri should note this. Ganguly too must be dignified.
