The report “Three lakh newborns last hardly a day” (May 8) was shocking. Beyond such statistics lies the untold agony that the mothers of such short-lived babies undergo. Their dreams stand shattered at the end of their pregnancy.
The disturbing increase of poverty in neo-liberal India has a lot to do with the policies of globalisation. We have a twin India — one that shines and the other that suffers.
