Railway accidents

The spate of railway accidents is alarming, but what is more dangerous is the repeated argument that given the size and length of the network, the complications in running it and the sheer volume of traffic, a few accidents could happen ... but in general, the system is good.

All of us board our trains in order to reach safely and not to face a calamity in the middle of a journey. Safety is not negotiable. After having raised the fares, one expects the government to focus on safety and run the service with sincerity. Is this asking for too much?
