Outrageous

The resolution passed by Pakistan’s National Assembly condemning the hanging of Afzal Guru and demanding the return of his body to his family is indeed a great setback to the peace process between Islamabad and New Delhi. It is heartening to note that our MPs have passed a unanimous resolution condemning the Pakistan Assembly’s resolution, which is a blatant interference in India’s internal affairs.

Pakistan’s demand that the body of Afzal, main accused in the Parliament attack case, be returned to his family is uncalled for. It is unfortunate that a country should condemn its neighbour’s treatment of a terrorist.

Besides meddling in a sovereign country’s internal affairs, Pakistan has demonstrated that it is not the least sincere in its fight against terrorism. India can ill-afford to harp on mutual dialogue and friendly relations with such a country.
