The media is so powerful that it can develop or mar a sport, or for that matter a sportsperson’s career (“Not a fair game for women,” Op-Ed, Nov.17). Nevertheless, everything boils down to demand and supply. Women’s cricket, for instance, is not in great demand. Hence, triumphs even in prestigious tournaments do not get players the attention they deserve. After all, the media too cannot be expected to stimulate the demand for women’s sports at its cost.
