Onto the football pitch

Catalonia’s referendum and its implications on FC Barcelona paint a dark picture for football lovers across the globe. Barcá is an embodiment of a modern global world where national and international sentiments prevail in unison. Players of different nationalities and races have not just given us a beautiful sport but also shown us a way toward peaceful co-existence, an example of how the world stands united irrespective of the wrongdoings of some. But incidents of violence in Catalonia and remarks of Barcá players threaten this consonance. Football, surprisingly, is our only hope in these difficult times.
