Online attack

It is deplorable that people should criticise a young girl for her religious tolerance (“Muslim trolled for rendering Hindu song”, March 9). Art is all about acceptance and is a form of expression that defies all boundaries of language, religion and culture. Suhana Sayed’s rendition of the hymn was melodious and received much praise from the judges. It is unfortunate that social media has become an easy, anonymous portal for people to spew hatred towards others who have conflicting ideologies.

It is a shame that despite moving to the 21st century, one’s religious sentiments are still questioned. The extreme criticism she received from her fraternity is uncalled for. It is very disappointing to read about such situations happening in this modern age. I am expressing my disappointment in this letter.
