On the President

The interview with Nobel laureate Amartya Sen (“‘The President should be a voice for sanity and fairness”,’ June 6) reflects the sentiments and views of many Indians. When the speed at which polarisation on political ideology, communal and caste aspects is growing at an unprecedented rate, to have a candidate who can carefully nurture our diverse culture would be very welcome.
