In her article “Rambogiri in the year of the flood” (July 11) Mirnal Pande has put things in a fairly correct perspective. Venkat Goli’s reaction “An unfair tirade against Modi” (July 12) leaves one perplexed. Should we stop discussing sub-judice matters? If yes, we should stop criticising A. Raja and Kanimozhi for their alleged involvement in the 2G scam. I would like to quote Gandhian leader and former Prime Minister Morarji Desai who said in the context of the Emergency: “Material and physical comfort without human freedom is sufficient only for well-fed domestic animals and birds. It is not so for men.”

The courts have passed many nasty comments on the conduct of the Modi government during the 2002 riots and after. Mr. Goli may revere Mr. Modi and might have watched the Rambo series many times but it is impossible to sell that “… the communal violence of 2002 was a tragedy that led to the loss of both Hindu and Muslim lives.”
