Offshore money

The exposé by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and the Indian Express has put the spotlight on corporates maintaining accounts in British Virgin Islands just to give a rosy picture about their enterprises. The off-shore trade connections give them free entry to the islands, besides earning them lucrative sums even if their companies remain non-functional.

Political parties exhaust their lungs only during elections and promise to fix the chinks in our tax system. Their assurances of bringing back the illegal money of Indian companies from foreign land turn hollow due to the lack of political will. The sound and fury remain barren yielding no tangible results.
