Of a train journey

It was only to be expected that The Hindu would make an effort to track feedback much after the publication of the striking article, “A train journey and two names to remember” (Open Page, June 1). The nostalgic recollections from Shankersinh Vaghela (“Motorcycle diaries: Vaghela recalls journeys with Modi,” June 5) of his friendship with Mr. Modi will further boost the image of the Prime Minister. Needless to say, The Hindu has an uncanny knack of often unearthing and publishing such wonderful and inspirational stories. A woman-survivor’s recollection of the Ariyalur train disaster was another good example (Open Page, March 2, 2014).
