The article “Obama: after the gush and the drool” (Nov. 22) exposed the role of our media, print and electronic, during President Barack Obama's visit. They gave the impression that our corporate sector gained from his visit. In reality, Mr. Obama came to India to seek business and clinch deals for the American MNCs. The media here conspicuously played down the U.S. curbs on outsourcing.
Barring a few sections, do our media ever react with such gusto on more serious problems faced by our country? They are after sensational news, not day-to-day mundane issues that affect the common man.
I appreciate the author for exposing the true motive behind Mr. Obama's visit — contracts and jobs. We, as a nation, should muster the will to treat all heads of states equally.
