The article “The iron hand that rocks the cradle” (Jan. 30), brought to light some very shocking facts about child protection services (CPS) in Norway. It is clear that CPS is an industry there, with fabulous amounts paid to psychologists and foster parents to separate children from their biological parents. One wonders why international humanitarian agencies continue to turn a blind eye to this atrocity.

The author has shown great courage in exposing the lie that Norway and Sweden are ideal welfare states. The article reveals shocking facts. There is a lesson in this for us, Indians: While we should not be blind to our many faults, we must realise that everything in the West is not necessarily the best.
