The Nobel Peace Prize for U.S. President Barack Obama shows that the Nobel committee lacks a proper evaluation criterion. Mr. Obama has not produced any substantial result to qualify for the honour. One cannot be awarded the Peace Nobel for good oratory. Mr. Obama is the leader of a nation which is at war with two countries.
The act of imprudence by the Nobel committee in giving away the prestigious award to Mr. Obama for his influential position has once again reinforced the U.S.’ hegemony.
Siddarth Shankar Hans,
All eyes are on Mr. Obama to take a positive step in promoting peace across the globe. He has been quite successful in his attempt so far. The Nobel Peace Prize will enthuse him even more.
President Obama is now a Nobel laureate more because of being acknowledged as a noble man attempting to establish peace. He is both surprised and humbled by the honour.
We hope that it will encourage him to achieve world peace by inculcating a sense of coexistence and taking note of nature’s warning on global warming.
S. Jamal Ahmad,
The Nobel Committee has, with farsightedness, identified a person with the vision, strength and determination to usher in world peace. Many find Mr. Obama to be just another politician who is full of rhetoric but he does looks like a leader who can translate his words into action. Now that the coveted prize has been conferred on him, he is morally bound to prove that he deserves it.
