No winners

The U.S., along with the EU, Russia and China, apparently does not want to interfere in conflicts around the world unless all of them stand to gain from it in one form or the other; weapons sales could be one (“ >Wars without winners ,” July 15). It is unfortunate that they are willing to play one side against the other in this dangerous game.

The last thing any western country or for that matter any country which wants to intervene in the affairs of another country wishes to do is to install or uphold democracy and secularism. Self-interest, power games and control will always shape the global order.

There is a winner, and that is the western bloc led by the U.S. It wants to maintain its control over the world and further its capitalist agenda by promoting sham democracies everywhere.
