No privatisation

The statement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi categorically ruling out any plans to privatise the Railways (Dec.26) is welcome. Instead, he should be prudent enough to spend available and limited resources, both local and foreign, to provide new railway lines in inaccessible and remote areas of the country, especially in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and the Northeast. This must be the priority; not fancy projects for bullet trains and so on.
