Mumbai stampede

January 20, 2014 12:57 am | Updated November 16, 2021 06:01 pm IST

In a stampede, death can be caused mostly by suffocation (“18 die in stampede outside Syedna home,” Jan. 19). Proper and timely provision of first aid would definitely save scores of lives. In spite of many such stampedes that have happened in the country in recent times, no lessons on crowd management have been learnt. This kind of neglect on our part is shameful, pathetic and unfortunate. At least now, the authorities and the government should learn lessons from such tragic and unfortunate incidents.
