Analysing the movie Raanjhanaa from another aspect (“A halo around male antics,” July 21), I would like to applaud the director for creating characters who bear a striking resemblance to real-life people. Movies have been known, and also blamed for, showcasing characters in extreme black or white. However, film-making trends in the recent past have defied this axiom, choosing to show characters in a practical light. Raanjhanaa is one of the many examples. There is no one hero or villain. Each character has different shades and the varied shades are clearly brought out in the movie.
