Media coverage

YSR’s tragic end was extremely unfortunate. But four others on board the chopper met with a similar fate. The media did not give importance to them.

They died in the line of duty. Their families lost a breadwinner. Not a word of comfort, in either the visual or the print media, by any leader.

In what way were the lives of those killed along with YSR less important? The media, as usual, went overboard. Throughout Thursday, they focussed on YSR. Leaders of all hues were interviewed. All of them mouthed the same clichés — tragic, irreparable loss, and so on. True, YSR deserved to be condoled. But there was hardly any interview with the family members or friends of the other four.
