Matter of pride

We all should be proud that the formula which the mathematics genius, Srinivasa Ramanujan, believed came to him in his dreams while he was on his deathbed (Dec. 30), is still relevant. It would be pertinent to share with the readers the news that Professor Ken Ono presented these findings during the recently concluded International Conference on Legacy of Srinivasa Ramanujan at SASTRA University in Kumabakonam, Tamil Nadu, on December 14 and 15, 2012.

It is significant that he shared the findings during the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Ramanuajan and did it in Kumbakonam where the mathematician spent most of his formative years. This is certainly a matter of pride for the people of India in general and Kumbakonam in particular.
