LPG price hike

The UPA government has administered yet another shock to the much-harassed people by increasing the price of subsidised gas cylinder. This amounts to fleecing the consumers. The poor and the lower middle class are already reeling under the worst impact of skyrocketing prices. The government should roll back the hike.

The government’s decision to increase the price of cooking gas by Rs.11.42 a cylinder is the last straw on the camel’s back. When the price of essential commodities is going through the roof, the move appears ill-timed at this juncture and could further stoke inflation. The aam aadmi, already smarting under the government's move to cap the number of subsidised LPG cylinders to six a year, is left wondering what more is in store.

The increase in the price of domestic LPG cylinder adds insult to injury. Another instance of the government’s insensitivity to the ever increasing burden on the common man.
