Perpetuating casteism

December 19, 2014 12:40 am | Updated 12:40 am IST

The VHP’s “recommendation” that converts should choose their caste is a clear manifestation of the casteist, outdated and anti-social designs and motives of the right wing (Dec.18). While Dalits and tribals face humiliation and inhuman treatment from upper castes, the statement is proof that outfits are safeguarding and protecting casteism in India. When other religious groups strive to serve their fellow community members and humanity, Hindu outfits appear to be using their strength, education and political power to keep the deep-rooted divide strong and intact. Is all this meant to keep upper castes in their comfort zone?
