Kashmir violence

The violence engulfing the Kashmir Valley is tragic. But equally worrisome is government inaction and the apathy of our national leaders. The grim situation in the Valley needs the intervention of national leaders. By acting like a pigeon that closes its eyes thinking the cat will go away is to accept a fate similar to that of the pigeon. We should ensure that Kashmir does not drift away.

There is a yawning gap between the government and the governed in the Kashmir Valley. There is an urgent need for the government to connect with the people of the State. The protests in the Valley are more a battle of wits and ideas rather than a law and order problem.
