When senior BJP leader Arun >Jaitley says that no judge will probe snoopgate (May 2), what he probably means is that it will be intimidating for any judge to probe the actions of a likely future prime minister (from the BJP)! But that does not answer the question why the state machinery was used to violate the fundamental right of privacy of an ordinary citizen. If naming a judge to probe snoopgate is part of a “political and mala fide” exercise, surveillance by the state on the private life of a citizen is not bona fide either.
