Former External Affairs Minister K. Natwar Singh’s soon to be released book One Life is not Enough: An Autobiography could fly off the shelves, if the stunning revelations contained in it on the Nehru-Gandhi family are anything to go by. Spiced with details like Rahul Gandhi prevented his mother from taking up the post of Prime Minister in 2004 due to his fear that she would be killed like Rajiv Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi’s first choice for Prime Minister in 1991 was Shankar Dayal Sharma, not Narasimha Rao, the book promises to be interesting.

Mr. Singh’s memoirs reflect his frustration. As a Nehru family loyalist, he should have been more circumspect. The former foreign minister seems to have published the book only to settle scores with Sonia Gandhi and her family.
