As a guest faculty in many B-schools for 10 years, I find that the criticism in the article “What they don't teach you at Indian B-schools” (March 7) is not justified. Over the last decade, I have seen the change that has come over the syllabi, teaching methods, approach of B-school managements, industry interactions, and specific programmes aimed at enhancing student value. As long as the industry needs are westernised, the process of churning out eligible employees will have to follow the western pattern. If a change has to come, it should come from the corporate level.
You cannot teach traditional Indian management in B-schools when the outside world expects the incumbents to dress, act and function like MNC employees.
