This refers to the report, “Plastic ban mooted in Sabarimala” (Feb. 6). The Kerala Forest Department’s plan to ban all plastic material on the routes leading to the Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala in the backdrop of the death of a wild elephant after consuming plastic waste, is laudable. The ghat section road from Erumeli (both routes) to Pampa and the on-foot route from Pampa to Sannidhanan (both routes) must be declared plastic-free zones.
