Headley’s confessions

February 11, 2016 01:04 am | Updated 01:04 am IST

David Coleman Headley’s statement that he was not paid by the ISI and LeT shows that he was ideologically committed to the cause of destroying India by a “thousand cuts” (Feb.10). While he has identified the key players in the 26/11 conspiracy, it is futile now to expect Pakistan to take action since those in charge there will again stonewall India’s efforts to pursue and get justice. His testimony has also torn to shreds Pakistan’s denial that non-state actors were responsible for 26/11. While he will never face justice in India, his testimony is proof that the ISI is a rogue organisation that sponsors and facilitates terror.

What is worrisome in all this is the role of the U.S., which has steadily sought to support Pakistan in spite of mounting evidence of its sinister role, and China’s silence on India’s attempts to bring closure. It is a fact that Pakistan will never eliminate the LeT, JeM and other groups hostile to India.
