Gentle colossus

September 25, 2009 11:07 pm | Updated 11:07 pm IST

It was touching to read about the “gentle colossus” (Sept. 25). Normally, we don’t get to read about the role of doyens like Satish Dhawan who have inspired and shaped many scientists. We need to bring to light the struggles, lives and work of such great men, so that youngsters feel inspired. Politicians, film artists and cricketers alone occupy most of our media space these days. It is heartening that The Hindu thought it fit to recall the life and achievement of a great scientist-humanist.
