Fauna on trains

September 22, 2015 12:30 am | Updated 12:30 am IST

The proposal by the Indian railways to paint coaches and stations with pictures of wildlife as desired by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to spread awareness on conservation is welcome (“Trains to transport you to the forests,” Sep.21). It is equally important on the part of the Railways to provide fences near tracks in forest areas at vulnerable locations where wild animals usually cross them. They may also impose further speed restrictions for all trains at such locations to save loss of wildlife
