From the love-hate relationship of the 1960s to the mantra now of (business) engagement (“ >Open for business, India tells China ,” June 30), India’s mature foreign policy tilt toward its immediate and giant neighbour is heartening. That Chinese industrial investments will find a place in designated venture parks is refreshing. The Modi government is doing all it can to impel China into shedding its reservations, suspicions and hostilities towards India. It is hoped that this trend will gradually pave the way to settling all border issues in an amicable manner and correcting the lopsided balance of trade. One also hopes that this will help usher in bilateral trade in high-quality goods.
