This refers to the article, “ >Seven steps to economic rebalancing ” (May 23). The writer has laid out a clear path for the new government to act on. Though this path is going to have obstacles, the Modi-led government must show the conviction and ability to effectively lay down legal processes, fast-track important projects and ensure inclusive development. Finally, equality and societal growth cannot be ensured without alleviating poverty.

All the suggestions, fair criticism and advice must be taken in the right perspective. Mr. Modi seems to be hitting the right notes already. One only hopes that he builds on the SAARC invitation to have numerous bridges of trade and commerce with our neighbours. It is this which will help all of us. There must also be priority for agriculture, power generation based on renewable sources of energy and rural employment.
