The unfolding ISIS crisis in Iraq is disturbing. It has the makings of a new Taliban. Religious fanaticism, supported by weapons and a narrow ideology, has virtually taken the region back to the medieval age. By destroying Shia mosques, terrorising minorities such as Yazidis and Kurds, ISIS has shown its true colours. World powers, particularly the Islamic nations, should strive for peace and stability in the region. If the situation continues, global terrorism will only grow.

Recently, there were reports that efforts are on to recruit youngsters for ISIS. This tendency among some to support a foreign terrorist organisation is a matter of grave concern. The move shows that certain sections in India are harbouring extra-territorial allegiances.
