The terror attacks in a Nairobi mall and a church in Peshawar, killing innocent civilians, including children, are deeply disturbing. Increasing instances of terrorism across the world have become a formidable challenge to global peace and security. The international community should evolve a co-ordinated action plan against terrorism, especially in the name of religion. In the long term, it should also consider a constructive dialogue with the fundamentalists to make them understand that killings cannot be justified in the name of religion.

The shooting spree in Nairobi and the bomb blast in Peshawar are condemnable. What do religious fanatics achieve by killing innocent people? Religion and faith are meant to ennoble a person. But what we see around us is hatred being perpetrated in the name of religion.
