It is ignominious that potential “leaders” who will be handling the jurisprudence of our country are aim for honourable positions by indulging in malpractices (“IPS officer caught cheating in UPSC mains exam”, October 31). Many dedicated individuals spend almost their entire life preparing diligently to join the civil service. Trying to attain an honourable position through malpractices is intolerable. Aspirants must have their dreams lit by a sincere desire to serve the country and not merely by a whim to be tagged along aristocrats.

The case may not be an isolated one and it is imperative to unearth a possible and wider racket involving many bogus IAS coaching centres and their tutors across the country. It is therefore reasonable to expect that the government of India orders a probe and asks the CBI to bust the racket to restore the credibility of examinations conducted by the UPSC. This will hopefully help those who got into the system by dint of merit.
