The reasons that led to the abandonment of the fifth One-Day International cricket match between India and Sri Lanka should be inquired into thoroughly (“Disgrace at Ferozeshah Kotla,” December 30). The damage has already been done and the blame game has started. When the Delhi team refused to play a Ranji match at Kotla, how could the BCCI allot such an important match there?

The cash-rich Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Delhi and District Cricket Association ignored the advice of the curators and the BCCI’s pitches committee. The fact that the ODI was scheduled in the stadium despite many warnings shows that the administrators were banking on public memory which is short.

It seems the BCCI is concerned only with money. Even after years of cricketing in India, it has still not learnt the art of preparing a wicket. Worse still, political parties are making capital out of this fiasco.
