Declining values

October 09, 2013 12:11 am | Updated September 28, 2016 02:49 pm IST

India is a country known for art, culture, tradition and, above all, spiritual and ethical values. People from many countries come here for spiritual development. But look how the situation has deteriorated. Swami Nityananda, Subhash Patri, and now Asaram Bapu ... all of them are facing serious allegations of wrongdoing. While Asaram Bapu is in jail on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl, two young girls who are sisters have accused him and his son of raping them. Such incidents lead to a total disbelief in “spiritual” leaders. The authorities must take strong action against such people if the charges against them are proved, and put an end to unethical practices in the name of religion.
