Credibility gap

January 30, 2013 01:29 am | Updated October 04, 2013 07:33 am IST

The Congress-led UPA government obviously fears that any decision on the Telangana tangle will open a Pandora’s Box, leading to similar demands from other parts of the country (“Promises and compromises,” Jan. 29). But the Congress should realise that by delaying a decision on the issue, it is digging its own grave in the State; it could be wiped out by the Jagan wave in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema, and the deep-rooted Telangana sentiment in the Telangana region. The credibility gap will prove costly.

I don’t understand how many meetings the Centre wants to conduct. The Srikrishna Committee did a good job by gathering the views of people belonging to the different regions of the State but the Centre does not seem to have taken the report into consideration.
