Condemnable

Friday's murderous attack on a police constable by two motorcycle-borne terrorists in Hyderabad is highly condemnable. The quick sequence of events exposed the lack of alertness on the part of the constables who came under attack. That they were unarmed and unprepared despite being part of the picket team is surprising.

The fact that the policemen were unarmed even though they were manning the most sensitive area in Hyderabad points to the loopholes in the security system. It is time we learnt some serious lessons from such incidents.
