Complete film-maker

Indian cinema has lost one of its most flamboyant personalities. I don’t think that any other person has excelled in cinema’s various forms as Balu Mahendra has — as a very successful cinematographer, script writer, editor and director. It is a pity that he slowed down his pace of working; else we may have had many more treasures from him. To say that you watched a Balu Mahendra film meant that you had had a wholesome viewing experience. He was the “ Moondram Pirai (the Crescent Moon)” of Indian cinema.
