This refers to the report that for the first time, the Vrindavan widows played Holi with one another using flower petals and colour powder (March 25). With their shackles broken, thanks to Sulabh International, the hapless women have made an effort to enter the mainstream. Bindeshwar Pathak’s efforts to emancipate the widows in government-run shelter homes should be written in golden letters. May his tribe increase!

The report conveys the joy of not only the abandoned widows of Vrindavan but also conservancy workers. It is heartening to learn that Sulabh International is providing food, clothes and shelter to the women thrown out by their families.
