Coke damage

The compensation of Rs.216.26 crore worked out by the High-Power Committee that studied the extent of damage caused by the Coca Cola plant at Plachimada in Kerala (March 23) can be termed as a belated tribute to and victory for against the multinational by the slain tribal crusader, Mayilamma, who was in the forefront of the agitation throughout her life. As far as implementation of the order is concerned, it is too early to predict anything. One apprehends that the various clauses contained in the MoU signed by the Kerala government and the company may be advantageous to the latter.
