Norway is notorious for taking away too many children from their families, and has been censured by the UNICEF for the same. It is not a perception, but a well-researched fact that a large majority of the children brought up in foster homes in Europe and America are abused. Unless the children are in grave danger, they should not be removed from their homes.

Life is not just about material things. It is about my mother's loving lap even if she has slapped me sometimes. It is about my father's mental stimulation even if his jokes were not the most intelligent. It is about knowing my sister and teasing her endlessly. It is about being a drop in your cultural river. It is about belonging. If the Norwegian state wants to have complete say over the lives of the children that immigrants bring in, then it should offer them citizenship.

Despite all the claims made by the Norwegian officials concerning the care for children, the Scandinavian country's divorce rate is 45 per cent to 50 per cent and that of Sweden, 65 per cent. Drug addiction and alcoholism are two serious issues choking the lives of adolescents and others. Any day I will embrace the Indian way as the children in India grow up under the care and love of parents, grandparents, other members of the family.
