After the match-fixing scandal rocked Indian cricket and attempts were made by erstwhile boss N. Srinivasan to reposition himself to the top post, Shashank Manohar’s selection as the President of BCCI is indeed a welcome change (“Manohar vows to cleanse BCCI”, Oct.5). While those who played the game at the highest level are better positioned to understand and work towards improving the system, one is disappointed to see that a familiar charade of relying on old hands is used to restore the reputation of cricket.
