Blur over ‘Street View’

‘Google Street View’, one of the most exciting features on the Internet, offers a chance for everyone with an Internet connection to become a virtual traveller (“Google Street View denied security nod”, June 10). It is a feature that can aid the tourism industry. The Defence Ministry’s decision may be justified but the feasibility and practicality of such a decision need to be studied. Numerous satellites are in orbit and it may be difficult to conceal key locations. This is also the era of high-resolution digital cameras. A better solution would be to increase vigil over and security in vulnerable places rather than black out such services altogether.
